x10 ActiveHome

ActiveHome is a rather cool home automation kit it contains everything you need to get started. The software that comes with the package allows you to control your appliances from your PC through the CM11A x10 module, which simply connects to your computer system via a serial link. CM11A is a technical term but it's just like every other x10 module, here is a pic to clarify this:






I'm going to purchase this kit myself soon because it will definitely give me a head start in creating my custom PC application, as the CM11A...is easily programmable thanks to several people releasing ActiveX controls, which are basically functions that allow you to do something unique when making a program. The x10lite is one I discovered earlier, so it might be worth checking that out if yo want to create your own application.

If anyone does something unique let me know. As I've mentioned a few timea already I am using voice, I may actually skip creating a visual interface altogether but I think it's nice to have several ways to control things.
